Get the cleanout details in writing
Ask whether the crew removes debris by hand, checks the downspouts and clears the work area afterward. These details matter more than the name of the package. A quote that says only “gutter cleaning” can leave you unsure what you are paying for.
Bagging leaves is not necessarily the same as taking them away. Agree where the bags go and whether hauling them away costs extra. Mention the detached garage or porch if those gutters need attention too.
Where does the downspout work stop?
Some downspouts discharge above ground. Others connect to a buried pipe. Ask where the company’s work ends. APS specifically describes clearing downspouts to ground level, above ground only. That wording does not include a blocked underground drain.
If water still backs up after a cleanout, ask the company what it observed and what needs a separate assessment. Clearing leaves does not establish that a gutter has the right slope or that damaged sections have been repaired.
Tell the cleaner about gutter guards
Send a photo or the guard name if you know it. Ask whether the crew cleans over the guards, works underneath them or removes sections. If removal is proposed, find out who refits them and whether that is in the price.
APS describes clearing debris from the roof and tops of guards in its offer. That is not a promise to remove every guard. Window Hero says it can work around or under most systems after assessment. The right question is what the company will do with the guards on your house.
Describe access before the visit
Mention the number of stories, sloping ground, locked gates and a conservatory or extension under the gutter line. Photos can help the company decide whether it needs to visit before quoting.
Ask whether you need to be home, how the crew will reach the work area and what happens if the weather forces a change. Do not assume that one company’s arrangements apply to all seven.
Questions you might have
Does gutter cleaning include washing the outside?
Ask for that separately. Removing leaves from the channel and polishing the visible gutter faces are different services.
Can I book just the blocked section?
Ask whether the company accepts a partial cleanout and whether a minimum visit charge applies. Describe where you have seen the overflow.
Will cleaning fix a leak?
A cleaning quote does not establish that repairs are included. Ask the company to identify any repair work and price it separately.
How often should I book?
Ask for a schedule based on the debris found, nearby trees and your guard system. These websites do not establish one interval that suits every Greensboro home.
Do these companies have websites?
Yes. All seven have official websites advertising gutter cleaning. The source links let you check current services and contact details.
