We found published guidance from two companies. The ranges below describe their own services, not a Greensboro average or a quote for your home. Ask what size, condition and equipment the price assumes.
Crawlspace Medic
$5,000 to $10,000
Its stated typical job range. The page separately describes a basic cleanout, barrier and dehumidifier package at $4,000 to $8,000.
Ask which scope applies to your estimate and whether drainage, insulation or repairs are extra.
Preparation, disposal, electrical work, drainage and repairs can change what you are buying. Check taxes, permit responsibility and any charges for changes discovered after work starts. Ask for those details before using the total to choose a company.
The warranty needs its own comparison
Separate material coverage from labor and equipment. Ask for the documents, transfer terms and any maintenance needed to retain coverage. “Lifetime” on a website does not answer those questions.
Our cost guide shows company published ranges and the work they describe. Ask for an inspection and a written quote for your home.
What does it cost per square foot?
For a quote you already have, divide its total by the measured crawl space area. Use that figure carefully: a price that includes drainage and repairs is buying more than a liner alone.
Can I use the home's listing square footage?
Ask for the crawl space measurement used in the estimate, especially with multiple stories, additions or mixed foundations.
Why are two quotes so different?
Compare preparation, drainage, equipment, insulation, repair work, access, fees and warranties before comparing totals.
Is a higher price proof of better work?
No. Price alone does not establish workmanship or whether the proposed scope is necessary.
Is the lowest quote missing something?
Possibly, but a lower total is not proof that something is missing. Circle anything the estimate does not mention and ask the contractor to clarify it.
What extra charges should I ask about?
Ask about disposal, electrical work, drainage, permits, tax, repairs and changes discovered after work starts.
Can Ovibex tell me a fair price?
We can help you compare what your quotes cover. We do not have a set of comparable local invoices that would establish a fair price for your home.
Warranty and ongoing costs
What does “lifetime warranty” cover?
Ask to read the warranty before signing. Find out what it covers for materials, labor and equipment, and what it excludes.
Can I transfer it when selling?
Ask about transfer eligibility, deadlines, fees and whether the manufacturer and installer have different rules.
Are service visits mandatory?
Ask whether inspections or maintenance are required to retain any part of the warranty and what they cost.
Is the dehumidifier covered for as long as the liner?
Not necessarily. Ask for the warranty for the exact model being supplied, then compare it with the liner and labor coverage.
How much electricity will it use?
That depends on the equipment, how long it runs and your electricity rate. A single monthly figure will not fit every home.
How often does its filter need attention?
Follow the specific model manual. For example, the reviewed Compact70 manual specifies checks and replacement at three to six months.
Is encapsulation maintenance free?
Ask for the inspection, filter, drain and equipment schedule in writing. “Sealed” does not mean no continuing care.
What do I get at handover?
Keep the equipment manuals, warranty documents, completion photos, maintenance instructions and the number to call if something goes wrong.
