There is no verified city average in this guide. The amounts below are company examples for different jobs. Use them to prepare your questions, then ask for a total for your own items.

Why two full loads can have different prices
A full trailer and a full truck may hold different amounts. Ask for capacity in cubic yards before comparing fractions of a load. Also check whether the price includes carrying the items out, taking them apart and disposing of them.
Junk Doctors’ general price page ↗ says rates are consistent statewide, while its Greensboro guide says local prices differ. The general page also gives some furniture items a higher starting price than the minimum. We have kept that uncertainty visible rather than treating either table as a guaranteed bill.
Include the details that change the job
- Photos of every item and pile to be removed.
- The floor, stairs, elevator and distance to the truck.
- Anything that needs taking apart.
- Mattresses, electronics, appliances and unusually heavy materials.
- Your address, deadline and building access arrangements.
Ask whether the total includes labor, disposal, recycling charges and tax. For a large cleanout, ask what happens if the job needs another load.
A simple message to send
“I need a sofa and two chairs removed from my Greensboro apartment. They are on the second floor, with stairs and no elevator. The photos show all three items and the stairway. Can you confirm the total for carrying them out and disposing of them, plus your next available date?”
Replace those details with your own. For a garage or whole home, include wide photos as well as close views of awkward items.
Questions you might have
Does the minimum charge cover any single item?
No. A minimum is the lowest visit charge, not a promise that every sofa, appliance or mattress costs that amount. Ask about your specific item.
Are stairs always an extra charge?
Companies handle access differently. Describe the stairs and ask for the total before accepting the quote.
Is a dumpster cheaper than a crew?
Compare the full rental, weight allowance and disposal terms with the removal quote. Also consider whether you can do the loading yourself.
Can I avoid paying a private company?
Possibly. Check the city rules for your item or ask a donation organization about furniture in usable condition. Our collection guide explains where to start.
