Choose based on what needs doing in your home. A regular visit may cover your usual upkeep, while a deeper clean can add detail work. The task lists vary by company, and “deep cleaning” doesn’t always include the oven or fridge. Ask what’s included before choosing a package.
Go through your home, room by room
| Task group | What to ask |
|---|---|
| Kitchen | Are counters, sink, stove surface and cabinet fronts included? Price appliance interiors separately. |
| Bathrooms | Which fixtures, floors and buildup are covered? What limitations apply to stains or damaged finishes? |
| Living areas | Clarify dusting, vacuuming, mopping, reachable surfaces and limits on moving furniture. |
| Detail work | Ask about baseboards, blinds, doors, trim, interior glass and high areas. |
| Specialist work | Separate organizing, waste removal, carpet extraction and renovation debris from ordinary cleaning. |
The same package name can cover different jobs
TCE’s published table ↗ lists oven interiors, refrigerator interiors and washing blinds as extras across its tiers. Summerfield’s checklist ↗ distinguishes routine and detail tasks, while its move service has its own conditions. Check the individual tasks rather than relying on the package name.
If a task is missing from the website, ask about it. The company may offer it separately. Keep its answer with your quote.
When your home needs more than the usual upkeep
Tell the cleaner about built up grime, rooms that haven’t been cleaned recently and any detail work you want. If it has been a while since the last thorough clean, mention that too. Photos can help the company estimate the job if it asks for them.
Point out delicate surfaces and share any care instructions. If furniture or appliances need moving, agree who will move them. Cleaning may not remove permanent stains or repair damaged finishes.
Put your priorities in the quote
List the jobs that matter most to you and send the same list to every company. Compare both the total price and exclusions. If you are leaving a property, use the checklist for moving; a furnished deep clean and an empty home move clean are different jobs.
Questions you might have
Does deep cleaning include the oven?
It depends on the provider. TCE lists oven interiors as an extra, so request an explicit included/extra answer.
Will a cleaner organize my home?
Only if that work is agreed. Tidying, laundry and organizing may be additional services rather than part of routine cleaning.
