Check your property manager’s instructions before booking. You may need a particular cleaner, a receipt or a certain order of work. Tell the company when the furniture will be out and when the keys are due, then leave room in the schedule for cleaning and drying.
Start with the instructions for your property
Look for carpet cleaning in your checkout list and ask about anything unclear. Does the manager want a professional receipt? Must you use a named company? Are there rooms or treatments that need special attention?
For a local example, Belvedere Properties ↗ names a carpet cleaner in its departure instructions and asks tenants to return the receipt with their keys. That is its published policy, not a requirement for every Greensboro rental. Check the instructions that apply to your own property.
Plan around the furniture and the keys
Tell the cleaner whether the apartment will be empty or whether you will still have furniture and boxes inside. Agree when movers and other cleaners will finish so people are not carrying items through rooms while the carpet team works.
Share the key handover deadline before choosing a time. Ask how long the job is likely to take and when you can walk on the carpet or put furniture back. An arrival window is not a promise that the work will be finished at its start.
Explain how the team will reach your apartment
- Your floor and whether there are stairs or an elevator.
- Parking distance, loading rules and access for equipment.
- Any building restrictions on doors, hoses or appointment times.
- Whether water and electricity will still be available.
- How the team will enter and who can answer questions.
Ask whether those arrangements change the price or equipment needed. Share entry codes privately with the company after agreeing on the visit.
Keep the receipt and check the work
Ask what the company’s receipt will show and what your property manager needs. Keep the agreed task list, the invoice and any messages about stains or areas the cleaner could not reach.
If something was missed, contact the cleaner promptly and ask about its reporting deadline. Cleaning does not guarantee a deposit refund or settle a dispute about damage. The property will still be assessed under its own arrangements.
Book the other cleaning separately if needed

A last minute appointment needs direct confirmation. A website that accepts bookings at any hour does not mean a crew is available that evening.

Do I need both a house cleaner and a carpet cleaner?
You may. Check whether your chosen company actually quotes both services. General floor vacuuming is not the same booking as professional carpet cleaning.
Can I get my carpets cleaned today?
